ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzziiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiipppppp!
The zipper is an onomatopoeia.
In the 1920s B.F. Goodrich used the device on boots and gave it the name “zipper” after the zip sound that it makes when opened or closed.
The zipper’s sound comes from the slider rubbing against the teeth of the zipper. Both the slider and zipper teeth are rigid, hard material so the sound is reflected off of both surfaces.
The zip sound could mean the difference between life and death!
A soldier:
Imagine you’re trying to stealthily sulk up to enemy territory. You then need to use your phone to call for something. But it’s in your backpack.
Better un-zip slowly or the enemy could hear you approaching.
The zip sound could mean the difference between a successful hunting trip and lost game!
A hunter:
Imagine you’re trying to stealthily sulk up to your prey. You are ready to shoot and realize your gun’s empty. You quickly reach your hand to your zipper pocket for more ammo.
Better un-zip slowly or your game could hear you approaching.
Well, now, you don’t have to worry…because now you don’t have to zzziiiipp up, you can simply Klōs® up.
Zipr Shift’s Klōs®, ZSK®, brand closure is a “closer” and not a “zipper.”
It doesn’t zip.
The onomatopoeia doesn’t work. It’s quiet.
Hear for yourself. The sound isn’t edited in these videos.
Why is there no sound?
The Klōs® brand closer has a flexible, soft polymer exoskeleton that absorbs most sound. At most, you might hear a slight squeaking sound when you push the closer tape halves together.
The slider will actually slide along the soft, flexible structure in the Klōs®. In the zipper, you’re basically dragging the slider along.
Friction makes all the difference!
Zzzzziiipppppper = hard surfaces of the slider contacting hard surfaces of the teeth or coils = noise
Klōs® = hard surfaces of the slider rubbing against the soft exoskeleton = quiet
Zipr Shift is here to say…
Don’t zip up, Klōs® up!
We got rid of the noise so you can close items quietly.
Aw, i thought this was an incredibly nice post. In concept I would like to devote writing this way additionally – taking time and actual effort to create a top notch article… but so what can I say… I procrastinate alot and also by no indicates often go completed.
